Washington Taking Command of the Army at Cambridge, 1775. Steel
engraving on paper. George Washington in uniform with cocked hat, left
center, on horseback saluting commanding officers and lines of troops
behind on right and center. American flag flying in breeze. Near center
in background between the two groups of soldiers is a cannon that was
recently fired with cannon barrel with muzzle blast. Smoke billowing up
and to right. Further in background is tall flag staff with flag. At
left background are hills, clouds and sky. In foreground is vegetation,
lower right corner is tree stump. Title below illustration in outline
font: "WASHINGTON TAKING COMMAND OF THE ARMY AT CAMBRIDGE 1775." Below
